
Jonathan Barker, BSc, MD, FRCP, FRCPath
Professor Barker trained in Dermatology in London and Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. In 2000 he was appointed Professor of Clinical Dermatology of St. John's Institute of Dermatology and became the Academic Head in 2002. He is currently co-director of the Skin Therapy Research Unit and head of the Psoriasis Unit at St John’s Institute of Dermatology. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and is co-author of the chapter on psoriasis of the major English language textbook of dermatology. Recently he has acted as a clinical expert advisor to NICE on new technologies for psoriasis. He sits on the Editorial board of many dermatology journals and is Secretary-General of the European Dermatology Forum.
Christopher E.M. Griffiths, MD, FRCP, FRCPath, Honorary Secretary
Professor Griffiths is Foundation Professor of Dermatology, Head of Division of Medicine and Neurosciences, University of Manchester, UK and Head of the Greater Manchester Dermatology Centre, Manchester, UK. He is a past Chairman of the British Society for Investigative Dermatology and is immediate past President of the British Association of Dermatologists. He is on the editorial boards of 8 scientific journals, including the British Journal of Dermatology and Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, author of 294 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and 150 articles in non-peer reviewed journals, and is a co-editor of the premier international textbook of dermatology - Rook’s Textbook of Dermatology.
Craig L. Leonardi, MD, Honorary Treasurer
Dr. Leonardi is Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at St. Louis University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also has a private practice. Dr. Leonardi has been involved in more than 100 clinical trials and has published more than 110 original articles and abstracts in such journals as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the British Journal of Dermatology, the Archives of Dermatology, the Journal of the American Medical Association and the New England Journal of Medicine.
Malia Tee Lewin, JD, CEO and Executive Director
Ms. Lewin has spent most of her career as a consultant and public policy strategist working on healthcare issues and disease advocacy. Prior to coming to IPC, she consulted with Mark Krueger & Associates and DDB Bass & Howes where she provided coalition building, public affairs, business planning, fundraising, and project management services to non-profit organizations, foundations, and corporations. Previously, Ms. Lewin held legal positions with the National Women’s Law Center, the Council of Women World Leaders, and Arnold & Porter. She is a member of the New York State Bar.
Alan Menter, MD, President
Dr. Menter is Chairman of the Division of Dermatology for Baylor University Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, both in Dallas. Dr. Menter has published approximately 180 scientific articles, several books, and numerous book chapters. He resides in Dallas with his wife of 40 years, Pamela. They have three children, Keith, Colin, and Kerith.
Wolfram Sterry, MD
Professor Sterry Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Charite University Hospital, Humboldt University, Berlin. He has numerous memberships and has held several honorary positions including President of both the German Dermatological Society and the European Society for Dermatological Research. He is a board member of the European Dermatology Forum and the International League of Dermatological Societies. Professor Sterry serves as editor for numerous peer-reviewed journals and has authored 213 scientific articles, 255 reviews and book chapters, and 15 published books.
Peter van de Kerkhof, MD, PhD
Professor van de Kerkhof is the Chief of the Department of Dermatology at the University Hospital Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He is past President of the European Society for Dermatological Research and the European Dermatology Forum. Professor van de Kerkhof serves as editor on 7 dermatology journals, is a member of 12 international dermatology organizations, and has authored many articles throughout his career.
Melodie Young, MSN, RN, ANP-c
Ms. Young began her career as a dermatology nurse in 1987 and has worked at psoriasis specialty clinics in Dallas as a nurse practitioner since 2000. Ms. Young has served as the Director of the Baylor Psoriasis Center and the National Psoriasis Tissue Bank in Dallas, Texas and has published work on psoriasis treatment access, advocacy, and peer and patient education. She currently serves as President of the Dermatology Nurses' Association and as a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the National Psoriasis Foundation.
