
Hervé Bachelez, MD, PhD
Professor Bachelez is professor at the Department of Dermatology of the Saint-Louis University Hospital in Paris, France. Since 2004, Professor Bachelez has been full professor of clinical dermatology at the University of Paris 7, where he received his Ph.D. in immunology in 1999. Professor Bachelez’s clinical and scientific research focuses on molecular immunology at the Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale(INSERM) at the Saint-Louis Hospital. His areas of scientific interest include psoriasis and other immune-mediated and inflammatory skin diseases, and immuno-intervention in inflammatory and tumor skin diseases. Professor Bachelez has received several scientific awards, including the Robert Degos award. He is a member of several national and international scientific societies, including the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology and the European Society for Dermatological Research (ESDR), the European Dermatology Forum (EDF). He is past president of the French Society for Dermatological Research, a member of the Scientific Board of the René Touraine Foundation.
Jonathan Barker, BSc, MD, FRCP, FRCPath
Professor Barker trained in Dermatology in London and Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. In 2000 he was appointed Professor of Clinical Dermatology of St. John's Institute of Dermatology and became the Academic Head in 2002. He is currently co-director of the Skin Therapy Research Unit and head of the Psoriasis Unit at St John’s Institute of Dermatology. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers and is co-author of the chapter on psoriasis of the major English language textbook of dermatology. Recently he has acted as a clinical expert advisor to NICE on new technologies for psoriasis. He sits on the Editorial board of many dermatology journals and is Secretary-General of the European Dermatology Forum.
Christopher E.M. Griffiths, MD, FRCP, FRCPath, Secretary
Professor Griffiths is Foundation Professor of Dermatology, Head of Division of Medicine and Neurosciences, University of Manchester, UK and Head of the Greater Manchester Dermatology Centre, Manchester, UK. He is a past Chairman of the British Society for Investigative Dermatology and is immediate past President of the British Association of Dermatologists. He is on the editorial boards of 8 scientific journals, including the British Journal of Dermatology and Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, author of 294 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and 150 articles in non-peer reviewed journals, and is a co-editor of the premier international textbook of dermatology - Rook’s Textbook of Dermatology.
Alexa Boer Kimball, MD, MPH
Dr. Kimball,a board certified specialist in dermatology, is the director of the Clinical Unit for Research Trials in Skin, Harvard Medical School, vice chair of the Department of Dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital and associate professor at Harvard Medical School. Prior to her current position, she was assistant professor and director of Clinical Trials in Dermatology at Stanford University in California. Kimball graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Princeton University and received her medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. Her postgraduate training includes serving as an Intern at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard University, Chief Resident in Dermatology at Stanford University Medical Center, and Clinical Fellow in Dermatology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. She received her Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, where she was inducted into Delta Omega Alpha.
Craig L. Leonardi, MD, Treasurer
Dr. Leonardi is Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at St. Louis University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also has a private practice. Dr. Leonardi has been involved in more than 100 clinical trials and has published more than 110 original articles and abstracts in such journals as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, the British Journal of Dermatology, the Archives of Dermatology, the Journal of the American Medical Association and the New England Journal of Medicine.
Alan Menter, MD, President
Dr. Menter is Chairman of the Division of Dermatology for Baylor University Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, both in Dallas. Dr. Menter has published approximately 180 scientific articles, several books, and numerous book chapters. He resides in Dallas with his wife of 40 years, Pamela. They have three children, Keith, Colin, and Kerith.
Karen Baxter Rodman, CEO and Executive Director
Karen comes to IPC with 20 years experience in nonprofit management, marketing and development. She has raised support for international, national, state and local nonprofit agencies, and permanent endowment for The Dallas Foundation. Karen was also the executive director of the Redman Family Foundation for ten years. Dallas Social Venture Partners, a venture capital fund for social purpose, was founded and initially directed under her leadership. As part of her pioneering work in the field of venture philanthropy, Karen was invited to be part of the initial seminar on Venture Philanthropy at the Aspen Institute and to present at the NESst (Nonprofit Enterprise & Self-Sustainability Team) 1st International Venture Philanthropy Forum. In addition, she received a fellowship to the inaugural class at Stanford University, Graduate School of Business, Executive Program for Nonprofit Leader. In 2003, Karen founded Philanthropic Strategy Group, a consulting group focused on nonprofit capacity building.
Wolfram Sterry, MD
Professor Sterry Chairman of the Department of Dermatology, Charite University Hospital, Humboldt University, Berlin. He has numerous memberships and has held several honorary positions including President of both the German Dermatological Society and the European Society for Dermatological Research. He is a board member of the European Dermatology Forum and the International League of Dermatological Societies. Professor Sterry serves as editor for numerous peer-reviewed journals and has authored 213 scientific articles, 255 reviews and book chapters, and 15 published books.
Peter van de Kerkhof, MD, PhD
Professor van de Kerkhof is the Chief of the Department of Dermatology at the University Hospital Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He is past President of the European Society for Dermatological Research and the European Dermatology Forum. Professor van de Kerkhof serves as editor on 7 dermatology journals, is a member of 12 international dermatology organizations, and has authored many articles throughout his career.
