André Vicente Esteves de Carvalho, MD, PhD

Dr. André Vicente Esteves de Carvalho is responsible for the Psoriasis Ambulatory at the Complexo Hospitalar Santa Casa de Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul State) and is 2013-14 coordinator of the Psoriasis Department of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology (SBD). Dr. Carvalho is a specialist in dermatology certified by the Brazilian Society of Dermatology. He completed specialization courses in Dermatologic Surgery and Mohs micrographic at the Dermatology School at Yale School of Medicine (2001) and has a master's degree in pathology from the Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre. In 2016 he received his PhD in pathology from the Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre. The title of his thesis is “Eficácia das medicações imunobiológicas e inibidores de pequenas moléculas na psoriase: uma revisão sistemática e metanálise de ensaios clínicos randomizados” (“Efficacy of immunobiologic and small molecule inhibitors drugs for psoriasis: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials”). He is the scientific reviewer for the Brazilian 2nd Edition of Dermatology, by Bolognia, Jorizzo and Rappini, and the Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia.

Angela Londoño, MD
CES University
Medellín, Colombia

Dr. Londoño is the head of the dermatology program at CES University in Medellín, specializing in clinical and surgical dermatology. She graduated from the University Pontifica Bolivariana's dermatology program in 2004 and received her master's degree in epidemiology from CES University in 2009. She is the co-coordinator of the Colombian Group of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (ColPsor), a group of dermatologists and rheumatologists interested in promoting psoriasis knowledge and improving the quality of life of patients who have these conditions. The group is supported by the Colombian Association of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery (Asocolderma). A founding member of the Latin American Society of Psoriasis (SOLAPSO), Dr. Londoño also served as editor of evidence-based guidelines for the management of psoriasis in Colombia in 2012 and 2015. She has participated in various psoriasis clinical trials and has authored various articles in national and international journals.

Romina Contreras, MD
Hospital de Clínicas Department of Dermatology
Asunción, Paraguay

Dr. Contreras is a specialist in dermatology and venereology; she recently completed a Masters in Autoimmune Diseases. She holds clinic and teaches at the Hospital de Clínicas Department of Dermatology in Asunción, Paraguay where she is also in charge of the Teledermatology Unit. She has special interest in the integral management of psoriasis, combining clinical practice and research. She is the principal investigator for “VDR polymorphism and its relationship with psoriasis severity."" Dr. Contreras was a 2019 IPC International Fellow.

Fernando Valenzuela , MD

Dr. Valenzuela is currently Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Chile in Santiago. He has received multiple awards from his medical school days to the present in addition to working closely with Dr. Kim Papp. He is highly regarded by all his colleagues in Latin America and attends all SOLAPSO and RADLA meetings in Latin America where he is frequently featured as a main speaker. He has been working and publishing about tofacitinib clinical efficacy, its association with viral infections and the improvement on quality of life.

Peter van de Kerkhof, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer

Professor Peter van de Kerkhof served as head of the department Dermatology at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, The Netherlands, since 1992 and is currently a Professor Emeritus there. He graduated in medicine from the Catholic University of Nijmegen in 1978 and trained in Dermatology at the St. Radboud Hospital, Nijmegen. In 1983 and in 1990 he completed his theses in the faculty of medicine and faculty of sciences resp. Between 1980 and 1984 he completed his training as a dermatologist. Research interests of Professor van de Kerkhof are psoriasis, disorders of keratinization, inflammation and clinical pharmacology of the skin. He has been president of major European Dermatological societies such as European Society of Dermatological Research and European Dermatology Forum. He is member of the editorial board of several international dermatological journals. He is an author or coauthor of more than 600 peer reviewed dermatological journals. He joined the IPC Staff as Chief Medical Officer in July 2018.
