Three psoriasis experts join the group of respected IPC Councilors

IPC is pleased to introduce and welcome our three newest councilors for 2022: Jason Hawkes, Mohammad Samiul Huq, and Cheng-Che E. Lan. These individuals were confirmed by the IPC Board of Directors during the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Annual Meeting in March. They bring a diverse and broad experience in the field of psoriasis and are passionate about working to improve care for psoriasis patients around the world. IPC Councilors serve in an advisory capacity and lend their global expertise on psoriasis research, treatment, and education to support all IPC programs, events, and initiatives. They are selected based on their overall reputation in the dermatology community, experience in clinical or investigative research in psoriasis, level of clinical expertise in patient care, and demonstrated professional interest in psoriasis. Learn more about IPC Councilors and read their full biographies.

Meet our newest councilors


Jason Hawkes, MD, MS
UC Davis Health & Rocklin
Sacramento, California, United States

Dr. Hawkes is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California-Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, California. As a board-certified medical dermatologist, he provides care for children and adults with a broad range of inflammatory conditions and growths. He has a special interest in the clinical variants of psoriasis (eg guttate, inverse, pustular, and erythrodermic psoriasis) and the management of other complex inflammatory conditions, such as psoriatic arthritis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and atopic dermatitis/eczema using novel immune therapies.
Dr. Hawkes completed a Howard Hughes Medical Institute-funded research fellowship in translational immunology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). He received a master’s degree in Clinical Investigation from Rockefeller University in New York City, New York, where he served as Chief Clinical Scholar and principal investigator of multiple clinical trials and human studies. He currently serves on the medical board of the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) and frequently participates in a wide variety of research and medical education initiatives.

Mohammad Samiul Huq, MBBS, DDSc, MSc, MPH

Professor Samiul Huq, MD, is a 1980 medical graduate from Mymensingh Medical College, Bangladesh. He completed a diploma in Dermatological Science and a master's in Dermatology from the College of Medicine under the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK. He then obtained his master’s in Public Health from North South University. Professor Samiul Huq worked as a registrar in dermatology in Saudi Arabia for an extended period. He received post-graduate training in the UK, where he gained advanced training in phototherapy. Before joining Square Hospital, he worked as a professor at ZH Sikder Women's Medical College Hospital. Professor Samiul Huq has many national and international publications. He is the founder and president of the Psoriasis Awareness Club, Bangladesh, affiliated with the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations. He is the chief coordinator of the Psoriasis Guideline committee in Bangladesh, and his field of interest is how to improve the quality of life of psoriasis patients.

Cheng-Che E. Lan, MD, PhD

Dr. Cheng-Che Lan received his MD degree from National Cheng-Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, in 2000, and his PhD degree from Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 2007. Currently, Dr. Lan is the Professor and Chair of the Dermatology Department and serves as the Physicians Secretary at the Office of Secretariat of Kaohsiung Medical University. Dr. Lan is the Chair of the International Affairs Committee in the Taiwanese Dermatological Association (TDA), serves as the Secretary for the Taiwanese Photomedicine Society, and is the associate editor for Dermatologica Sinica the official journal of TDA. Dr. Lan is the author or co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in academic journals, and he focuses his academic research on photomedicine, wound healing, and pigmentary disorders. He enjoys clinical practice as much as academic research.
