An eDelphi
study conducted by the University of Nottingham and the International Psoriasis
Council identified list of expert-agreed criteria for the diagnosis
of plaque psoriasis in children. A diagnostic accuracy study is underway to
test individual and combinations of major diagnostic criteria that are most
predictive of pediatric psoriasis. Ruth Murphy, an author of this publication, serves as an IPC Councilor.
Abstract
Psoriasis in children can be a challenging diagnosis: the clinical presentation is often more subtle, may occur in covered sites and can be an unexpected diagnosis as psoriasis if often thought to occur at older ages. Poor recognition and delayed diagnosis of psoriasis in children can lead to inadequate treatment and lack of monitoring for comorbidities including juvenile psoriatic arthritis. Diagnostic criteria would help both clinical practice and clinical research, but to date none are available. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.
