Meet the 2018 Fellows The 2021 IPC International Fellowship Program is supported by Amgen, AbbVie and Sun Pharma.
Awarded fellows are matched with IPC Board Members or Councilors to observe and participate in clinical practice and laboratory research of patients with psoriasis. This opportunity provides real-world practice in the investigation, diagnosis, and development of treatment plans for psoriasis. In addition, the program provides an opportunity for IPC Fellows to develop ongoing relationships with key opinion leaders by participating in IPC programs and activities throughout a one-year period. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IPC 2021 Fellows will participate in virtual 1:1 mentoring and workshops with IPC's global network of psoriasis experts.

JAQUELINI BARBOZA DA SILVA, MD SANTA CRUZ UNIVERSITY | SANTA CRUZ DO SUL, BRAZIL
Jaquelini Barboza da Silva, MD is a dermatologist in private practice in Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil. Additionally, Dr. Barboza da Silva is an instructor at Santa Cruz University, where she completed a master’s degree studying biomarkers in psoriasis by spectroscopy. She is a blind investigator in a rizankizumab clinical trial at Moinhos de Vento research center. Dr. Barboza da Silva has scientific interests in biomarkers and the burden of psoriasis. Her key clinical interest is to provide the best treatment for each patient profile. She will study with Darren Ashcroft and Chris Griffiths of University of Manchester.
ÁLVARO GONZÁLES-CANTERO, MD, PHD HOSPITAL RAMÓN Y CAJAL | MADRID, SPAIN
Álvaro González-Cantero, MD, PhD, works as a dermatologist at the Department of Dermatology of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid, Spain, where he combines patient care with research. He received his PhD in psoriasis and comorbidities in 2019 at the University of Castilla la Mancha. He has special interest in increasing the knowledge of the relationship between psoriasis and atherosclerosis. He is the principal investigator for a cohort study to investigate the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying cardiovascular comorbidity in psoriasis. His research on cardiovascular comorbidities and systemic inflammation in psoriasis has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Plos One and his presentations on the topic have received excellency awards on several occasions in different scientific meetings. Dr. González-Cantero will study with Joel Gelfand of the University of Pennsylvania in the United States.
LILY Lyralin TUMALAD, MD, FPDS RIZAL MEDICAL CENTER | metro manila, PHILIPPINES
Lily Lyralin Tumalad, MD, FPDS is a dermatologist with special interest in psoriasis and photodermatology. She is a consultant in two government training institutions in Manila, Philippines. She is currently head of the psoriasis center of the Department of Dermatology at Rizal Medical Center, as well as head of the phototherapy unit of the Department of Dermatology at East Avenue Medical Center. Her work is a combination of clinical practice, teaching residents, conducting lectures, and research. She was the lead consultant of the technical working group for developing the clinical pathway for psoriasis at Rizal Medical Center. Dr. Tumalad completed her dermatology residency at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital and did a photodermatology fellowship at the National Skin Centre in Singapore. She will study with Curdin Conrad of Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland.
MATTHEW VESELY, MD, PHD YALE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE | NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT, USA
Matthew Vesely, MD, PhD, is an Instructor in the Department of Dermatology at Yale University where he combines patient care with translational research in autoimmune skin diseases. Dr. Vesely obtained his PhD in immunology studying how the immune system detects and eradicates cancers. Since completing his dermatology residency in 2017, his clinical interests are centered on caring for patients with inflammatory and autoimmune skin diseases. His translational research program focuses on identifying immune inhibitory receptors to better understand the pathogenesis of chronic autoimmune skin diseases such as psoriasis. Ultimately, he hopes to develop novel therapies for these debilitating disorders by modulating T cell activation states. Dr. Vesely will study with Alice Gottlieb of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai in the United States.
