Jonathan Barker, MD, is Professor of Medical Dermatology at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, King’s College London and honorary consultant dermatologist at Guy’s and St. Thomas’s Hospitals specializing in complex hospital based medical dermatology. He is senior consultant in the severe psoriasis service and co-director of the Skin Therapy Research Unit which conducts academic and commercially sponsored clinical studies and trials.
Professor Barker is the current President of International Psoriasis Council having previously been a board member and chair of the scientific committee. He is a principal investigator in national and international consortia using genetic and multi-omic approaches to discover causal disease mechanisms, new drug targets and biomarkers of disease subtypes and outcomes to therapeutic interventions. These are being applied to important chronic skin diseases such as psoriasis, acne and eczema. Professor Barker has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers, authored and edited several books including the latest (9th) edition of Rook’s Textbook of Dermatology. Highly cited publications include those in the Lancet, Nature Genetics and New England Journal of Medicine. Professor Barker was head of department at the Institute of Dermatology 2002-2018 and course director of the Institute’s MSc Clinical Dermatology for overseas graduates. He is a past President of the European Dermatology Forum and the European Society for Dermatological Research. He is an honorary overseas member of several national dermatological associations including Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, and the USA.

Siew Eng Choon, MD

Siew Eng Choon is a senior consultant dermatologist at Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru, Malaysia and a Clinical Associate Professor for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at Monash University, Malaysia. She received her medical degree from the University of Malaya. She undertook postgraduate training in general medicine and obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians (London, UK) and was subsequently elected as a fellow. She was awarded a public service scholarship to pursue dermatology training, followed by a fellowship to train in dermatopathology in St. John's Institute of Dermatology, London, UK. She is involved in medical undergraduate teaching and supervises postgraduate dermatology trainees for the Advanced Diploma in Dermatology. Her research interests include psoriasis particularly pustular psoriasis and cutaneous adverse drug reactions. Dr. Choon is a foundation member of Asian Academy of Dermatology and Venereology and an active member of the Malaysian Society of Dermatology as well as a member of the Malaysian Medical Association. She sits on the steering committee of the Malaysian Psoriasis Registry and is a member of the subcommittee for the Malaysian dermatologist specialist registry. She has authored/co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and contributed chapters to a dermatology textbook and various other publications.

Pravit Asawanonda, MD

Dr Pravit Asawanonda is a Professor and Chair of Dermatology at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. He also practices dermatology at Bumrungrad International Hospital since 1998. His past administrative position was Associate Dean for Planning and Development at the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University.

Dr Asawanonda attended Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, where he received his M.D. in 1988 and a Master of Science in Dermatology in 1990. He went on to complete a clinical fellowship in Photobiology with the Division of Dermatology at Ramathibodi Hospital, Thailand, before heading to Boston for further training. In Boston, Dr Asawanonda attained a clinical fellowship in Phototherapy and Lasers from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. He also completed a research program with Boston University which culminated in him receiving a Doctor of Science in Dermatology in 1998.

Dr Asawanonda is a certified dermatologist by the Thai Board of Dermatology. His main interests are psoriasis, vitiligo, phototherapy and most recently biologics. He currently serves as a member of several professional bodies in Thailand. He is also an International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He was recently appointed a director in the Asian Society for Psoriasis.

Dr Asawanonda has presented at many medical meetings and seminars regionally and internationally. He has published in as well as serves as reviewer for several dermatological journals over the past 20 years.

Peter van de Kerkhof, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Officer

Professor Peter van de Kerkhof served as head of the department Dermatology at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, The Netherlands, since 1992 and is currently a Professor Emeritus there. He graduated in medicine from the Catholic University of Nijmegen in 1978 and trained in Dermatology at the St. Radboud Hospital, Nijmegen. In 1983 and in 1990 he completed his theses in the faculty of medicine and faculty of sciences resp. Between 1980 and 1984 he completed his training as a dermatologist. Research interests of Professor van de Kerkhof are psoriasis, disorders of keratinization, inflammation and clinical pharmacology of the skin. He has been president of major European Dermatological societies such as European Society of Dermatological Research and European Dermatology Forum. He is member of the editorial board of several international dermatological journals. He is an author or coauthor of more than 600 peer reviewed dermatological journals. He joined the IPC Staff as Chief Medical Officer in July 2018.

Murlidhar Rajagopalan, MD

Dr. Rajagopalan is a senior consultant and Head of Dept. of Dermatology, Venereology & Leprology at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, India. Additionally, he serves as senior consultant in pediatric dermatology at Apollo Children’s Hospital. He completed an MBBS from JIPMER Madras University in 1985 and an MD in Dermatology from PGIMER Chandigarh in 1989. Dr. Rajagopalan reviews articles for the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology and several other national and international journals. He joined the IPC as a councilor in 2006 and currently serves on the IPC education committee.

Colin Theng, MD, FRCPC

Colin Theng is a Senior Consultant at The Skin Specialists & Laser Clinic in Singapore. He is the former Chief of the Psoriasis Unit at the National Skin Centre and is the current president of the Psoriasis Association of Singapore. His areas of research interests include psoriasis, photodermatology and phototherapy. He is actively involved in clinical trials in psoriasis. He is also a clinical tutor with the National University of Singapore and is actively involved with medical students and post graduate teaching. He received the Deans award in 2010 for clinical teaching.
